this is the first intermediate level trick. Teaching your cat this trick will be much easier if it knows "lay down". There will be a section for doing this without and with the "lay down" command.

with the "lay down" command:

if you have taught your cat "lay down", this trick will be much easier. to train you cat this, start with a simple "lay down" command. once your cat is laying down, say "roll over". Next, hold a treat and start from one side and move it to the other. If your cat rolls over to get the treat, give her the treat. Finally, repeat this until all you need to do is say "roll over" and not give her a treat for her to roll over. Heres the shortened version of this:

  1. say lay down
  2. say "roll over"
  3. hold a treat and move it one side to the other
  4. if your cat rolls over, give her a treat

without the "lay down" command

Before you start doing this, here is a tip that will make it easier for the cat to lay down. lay a blanket down on the floor; this will encourage her to lay down. first, get her to lay down. Then, say "roll over" and hold a treat from one side and move it to the other side. If your cat rolls over to get the treat, give her the treat and say "good girl". repeat that until your cat does not need anything to roll over other than for you to tell her to.
